The Japanese Bobtail cat has a bobbed tail that looks more like a rabbit´s tail than a cat´s tail, it is no more than about 3 inches long and is covered with fur and curly. No two tails for this breed are the same, according to one veterinarian. The Japanese Bobtail has both long and short coat varieties and is outgoing and highly intelligent. They are native to Japan and Southeast Asia and have been recorded in history since the 6th century. They were used as rodent control in the silkworm trade but were eventually considered a luxury cat and are not known widely outside of Japan.
