10. Wallis Simpson’s Panther Bracelet—$12.4 million

source: dailymail.co.uk

Made by Cartier, Paris in 1952, this onyx and diamond panther bracelet sold at auction in 2010 for $12.4 million. The piece gets its name due to the bracelet being uniquely shaped like a green-eyed, outstretched panther. When the bracelet was sold through Sotheby’s there were some small stones missing, so it was not sold in mint condition. This wonderful piece was originally owned by the American socialite and then Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson. The Panther bracelet was commissioned by King Edward VIII of England, who for the great love of Simpson abdicated the British throne. Although the panther bracelet, was bought by an “anonymous” buyer through Sotheby’s Auction, it has been rumored that entertainer extraordinaire Madonna was the one who bought the $12.4 million bracelet.
