Choo Yeang Keat, a Malaysian (but London East End) designer of shoes, (his family was in the trade), began by making custom shoes, and his business went from strength to strength in the early 1990s. From the late Princess Diana to Sex and the City´s Carrie Bradshaw, the Jimmy Choo brand has the most elite and loyal customer base in comparison to others. The Jimmy Choo collection is priced competitively with some shoes less than $500 up to around $3,000 for a pair of new season originals. Mr. Choo left the company in 2001 but his niece, Sandra Choi, is still in position as Creative Director. From London´s first store opening in 1996, Jimmy Choo outlets can be found in Sloane Street and Bond Street in London, Via Condotti in Rome, Madison Avenue in New York, Avenue Montaigne in Paris, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and Ginza in Tokyo. It is common to see Jimmy Choo shoes in Hollywood and at heads of state gatherings. Women’s shoes are at the heart of the product catalog, along with bags, glasses and sunglasses, perfumes, leather goods, scarves, belts, and… men’s footwear!
